Display - CPT and AUO Head to Houli for 7G Plants
August 19, 2004
As Central Taiwan Science-based Industrial Park goes to include Houli country, CPT and AUO are expected to collectively make investments of over NT$800 billion. Following CPT, which planed to set up four over-7.5G TFT LCD plants in Houli with an investment of NT$420 million, AUO also submitted application to the National Science Council for a spot in the base. The company plans to up its investment to NT$400 billion by establishing two 8G plants.

The presence of these two panel makers is anticipated to lure a swarm of international component makers to set up facilities nearby, consolidating its position as a LCD panel industry cluster other than the Southern Taiwan Science Park.

A total of 53 makers have obtained access to the park, with aggregate investments of approximately NT$525.2 billion. Companies that have officially started plant construction include AUO, ProMOS, Nitto Denko Corporation, Corning, Winbond, and Chuan-Liang Industrial Corporation.

The National Science Council is now working to procure this 600-hectare land and is looking to make the park available to makers by mid 2005.
